Curated by Jérôme ALLAVENA
Opening Saturday 20th May 2017 from 04.00 p.m.
Exhibition from May 20th to June 17th, 2017
Galerie Houg invites artists Jennifer Caubet, Vincent Ganivet, Nicolas H Muller and Stéphanie Raimondi, selected by curator Jérôme Allavena.
Through the filter of my own practice, I wanted to bring together artists whose work I feel resonates with my plastic and theoretical research. Much like the images that linger in our mind, with time, these perturbing feelings of déjà-vu can become reference points; veritable apparitions dealing romantically with both loss, and the sacred.
SPECTRE is a collective exhibition of after-images; a selection of works, pre-existing for viagra pas cher the greater part, presented with a mission to establish coherence beyond aesthetic affinities or redundancies. Just as we would construct a sentence to give it meaning. I am thinking in particular of the round or circular shape, which will be encountered in several instances and forms. The circle will at times be composition or citation, at times accident or repetition.
This idea of variation and declension within the concepts of protocol, process and their shared temporality continuously drives my approach. It is with pleasure that I encounter these same notions nuanced throughout the work of these 4 artists, with whom I feel on the same wavelength.
The essence of this exhibition is to find a way to present a projection, to bring to light that which is usually in the shadows; that which creates a bond, which motivates us, which inhabits us, which haunts us.
